The performance, which took place Saturday night during a themed music showcase, drew swift backlash on social media after photos surfaced showing the artist wearing a shirt featuring the controversial symbol. While the performer has not been officially named by Ohm Lounge, multiple attendees identified the individual online.
In a statement posted to the lounge’s official Instagram account on Sunday morning, the owner wrote:
Ohm Lounge is a space meant to promote unity, creativity, and peace. The actions of one performer do not reflect who we are. We were shocked and disheartened by the shirt worn during last night’s set. We do not, under any circumstances, tolerate the display of hate symbols in our venue.
The swastika, originally an ancient symbol of spirituality, has long been associated in the West with Nazi Germany and its atrocities during World War II. Its appearance in public spaces often provokes outrage and condemnation, especially when there is no clear context of protest or education.
The lounge owner added that Ohm Lounge is currently reviewing its booking and performance policies to prevent similar incidents in the future. We’re deeply sorry to our community and all who were hurt or offended. We are taking this matter seriously, the statement concluded.
As of Monday morning, the performer has not issued a public response.
